Man Dead after Shooting on E. 10th Street

Posted: Updated:
A 20-year-old man shot in the chest on East 10th Street early Friday morning died just after 2am at UPMC Hamot from his wounds.

According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, the victim's autopsy will be scheduled for 10am. His name has not yet been released.

The first calls reached 911 operators just before one o'clock on Friday morning, reporting of several shots fired along E.10th St between Wayne and Reed Streets.

Police didn't find anything in the area in the initial search. Then a few minutes later, neighbors called again, this time about a victim in the shooting. Cops went back and found a man with a bullet wound to the chest, lying in some bushes.

Rescue crews took him to UPMC Hamot in critical condition, before he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was initially able to speak with police, but was not cooperating.

There are no suspects as of Friday morning.
