Posted: Updated:
Erie police say they are receiving some tips by phone and leads into a deadly shooting early Friday in the city.  Police identify the victim as 20-year-old Travon Green. Officers on patrol heard gunshots just before 1:00 AM, then found Green down on the ground near the sidewalk in the 700 block of East 10th Street. He was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the back.

Police started first aid and say the victim was conscious, alert and talking to them. He was rushed to the trauma center, but did not survive. Coroner Lyell Cook ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators did not find shell casings near where they found the victim. If you have information that could lead to an arrest, call detectives at 870-1163 or call the officer in charge at 870-1120.
