Erie Police Release Surveillance Picture Of Bank Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:
Police are searching for a suspect described as a white male, perhaps 6 foot 1 inches tall who robbed the Erie Community Credit Union around 12:45, then left on foot traveling northeast.

The robbery is particularly brazen because it comes at the height of lunch hour downtown and the credit union is next to the Plymouth Tavern, one of the busier lunch time spots in downtown Erie.

The man is described as having a dark hat and lime green shirt, but Erie police say the suspect ran from the bank and ditched that lime green shirt and hat in the garbage bin nearby. He then changed his outfit to a blue T-shirt, with no hat. Outdoor security surveillance footage from a nearby business corroborated that.

"We have one eye-witness that happened to be in the alley at the time that the suspect ran through, and he got a good look at the suspect for us," said Deputy Chief Donald Dacus. "It's key for us to get in the area as fast as possible, try and gather as much information from the people that are in this area as quickly as possible, so we can better direct our resources to hopefully apprehend this guy," Dacus added.

Investigators say the suspect did not show a weapon.
