The Mercy Center for Women honored the donors who help make their mission a reality in Erie, Thursday night.
They unveiled a butterfly wall, showing all the donors who have helped build the new wing of the center which was constructed last year. The Mercy Center for Women is a transitional housing facility that helps homeless women and children in the Erie area.
Both the wing and the butterfly wall were dedicated to Audrey Hirt, a longtime supporter of the center.
The organization relies heavily on the generosity of the community.
" Without the community support and especially people like Audrey Hirt, it would be very difficult to serve and to help the women and children that we do," said the center's Executive director Chris Tombaugh, "so were very appreciative."
There are currently 72 butterflies on the wall, and you can still purchase them for donations ranging from $100 to $5000.
