Christie Ann, the owner of a hair salon in Chicago, has begun the Wigs of Joy campaign to allay the crushed confidence of many children and women who are struggling from severe hair loss either due to cancer or alopecia. These devastated individuals find it very difficult indeed to cover up the hair loss as wigs are expensive, especially medical wigs that cost around $150 as they are designed for maximum comfort throughout the day. This fundraiser therefore comes as a boon to all those individuals paying a steep price for the cure of their disease.
Both cancer and alopecia are demanding in terms of finances and as a result, people suffering from them have to direct most of their earnings into curing these diseases. This leaves them very little resources to fend against the scars left by them. Hair loss even in the smallest amounts has the ability to bruise the self-confidence of many and hence one can only imagine the plight of those who deal with a permanent and undue loss of hair.
Wigs of Joy is receiving more supporters and donations by the day as many believe it is a cause worthy of attention. This altruistic campaign is aiming to reach raise $5000 in order to make a significant impact on the lives of women and children who are in need of this support.
Christie Ann articulates her passion in this campaign: “With your help I will be able to provide more women and children with these much needed medical wigs. This won’t fix all of their problems, but it will give them one less thing to worry about in their time of need. Bringing them smiles to their faces is what I enjoy.”
