Solemn Ceremony for Veterans at Edinboro University

On the eve of Veterans Day, a solemn ceremony today at Edinboro University honoring those who served.

The ceremony included a special military salute with a flag lowered and folded, and an honor guard firing a rifle volley.

Dozens of people braved the cold to attend the event outside Reeder Hall.

Several speakers talked about the close ties between Edinboro and the military, and the importance of remembering the dedication and sacrifice of veterans.

Edinboro University ROTC Commander Ben Kavanaugh said, "Whether it is a time of conflict or time of peace, they have put their lives in jeopardy or on the line for us. This is the one day a year that we can express our gratitude and say thank you to all who have served us."

The Edinboro University Veterans Success Center is now collecting personal hygiene items for homeless vets in our region, and money for vets in the Caribbean impacted by Hurricane Maria.
