PennDOT to Start Repairs on Bargain Rd. Bridge over Interstate 90

A $760,000 project to rehabilitate the Bargain Rd. bridge over Interstate 90 in McKean Township, Erie County, is set to start soon, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) on Monday.

Work includes resurfacing the existing deck and parts of the road leading up to the bridge, in addition to other minor structural repairs.

Crews will start May 13, weather-permitting, and is expected to be completed in September 2024.

The project will require a detour using Hershey Rd., Route 99 and Grubb Rd. It is expected to remain in place throughout the entire project.

The existing bridge was built in 1959 and is classified as in fair condition. Approximately 750 vehicles use the bridge per day.

MEKIS Construction Corporation was issued the $763,516 contract, which is being paid using federal funds.
