Incorrect! Nickommoh was a traditional thanksgiving ceremony

Provided by WorldNow

The Indians who lived in the Pilgrims' neighborhood did not need the newcomers to teach them about thanksgiving. They had been holding similar celebrations for many generations.

Nickommoh was a yearly celebration for the Naragansset people, including the Wampanoag Indians who shared the "first Thanksgiving" with the Pilgrims. It was a time to give thanks for a successful harvest, and included feasting, music and games.

The other answers to our quiz all come from the Wampanoag language. "Wetu" means house, "midsoon" is a boat, and "soabahog" is a traditional Indian stew. Massasoit is the name of the Wampanoag chief who attended the Pilgrims' thanksgiving festival.
