Fatal Edinboro Shooting Leaves Campus on Lockdown (11:30pm update)
The incident happened just after 6pm in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 123 Water Street. The building is not on Edinboro University's campus.
It's undetermined as of 11:30pm on Wednesday if the victim was a student of the university.
Coroner Lyell Cook said the incident appeared to be a homicide, and that the victim suffered at least one gunshot wound, though also stated there could be multiple wounds.
Cook will make an official running on the cause of death after the autopsy, which is scheduled for 11am in Erie on Tuesday. He did confirm that there's at least one witness to the incident.
With the shooter at large, Edinboro University placed the campus on lock down. By 10pm, Edinboro police were escorting students and faculty back to their residences.
University spokesperson Jeff Hileman said they're working closely police to determine how long the lockdown will be necessary, and if any classes will be canceled on Tuesday.
Edinboro Police Department is heading the investigation, with assistance from Pennsylvania State Police, and Edinboro University Police.
As of midnight on Tuesday morning, police were still on scene investigating.
