Two area non-profits are teaming up to help with youth programs in the area.
Big Brothers Big Sisters and the YMCA on Tuesday were celebrating their partnership. They've created multiple site-based programs that match children enrolled at any YMCA in Erie will be matched with a mentor from Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The pair spends one hour a week together at the YMCA locations. Organizers from this collaboration say this is just another way to give kids a positive influence.
"It gives an opportunity for college students to become involved and not have the expense of taking children out into the community," said Paula Hayes of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NWPA. "There's build-in things to do."
