Hundreds of people packed the shooting range at Bob's Gun Shop & Shooting Range in McKean Township on Wednesday night for a discussion on gun control.
Both Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-3rd District, and Rep. Mike Kelly, R-5th District, were there, along with a representative from Senator Pat Toomey's office.
Gun owners were at this forum, asking the congressmen about what is going on in Washington, D.C. with gun laws. Even those who are calling for more gun control, were at the meeting.
Even though this forum was all about discussing Second Amendment rights, and the new measures President Obama has enacted, Rep. Kelly said it was also about using our First Amendment rights. He applauded those there, for being able to have differing opinions and talk about the issue.
"The Second Amendment has restrictions, common sense restrictions," said Sister Marlene Bertke. "No one needs an assault weapon or a semi-assault weapon, or a magazine with 50-100 bullets in it."
"I don't have an automatic weapon, I don't own a rifle or a shot gun," said gun owner Rich Haight. "I have a pistol for protection, its only 7 round magazine. That's all I have and I believe I have the right to have that."
Both Rep. Thompson and Rep. Kelly said this discussion didn't end when the forum finished up Wednesday night. They are urging constituents to contact their local offices with more of their concerns.
