Erie County Democratic Chairman Bill Cole confirms that former Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper is getting back into politics. But what's interesting is that she's taking steps to run for Erie County Executive on the democratic ticket at the same time she's exploring a run for governor of PA.
Cole says someone is circulating nominating petitions for Dahlkemper to run against incumbent Barry Grossman in the May primary. He also says state party officials still have Dahlkemper on record as one of five possible democratic challengers for the governor's seat.
Cole said county party officials were caught off guard by Dahlkemper as a candidate for county executive. "Normally we're made aware of it beforehand," said Cole. "They usually consult with us, but this caught us off guard. There was no one on our committee that was aware she was going to enter the county executive's race."
