High Winds Hit Erie Region

Posted: Updated:

The high winds hit Erie Sunday night and trees and power lines began to fall.  The problems were scattered all across the region.   At West 3rd and Liberty Street, live wires came down, knocking power out to the block. That forced emergency crews to close the street to traffic.

In Harborcreek, just before 8:00 PM, a series of trees came down across East Lake Road. One was blocking the road near the intersection with Parkside Drive. Another tree came down at East Lake and Bartlett Road.

Fairfield Fire Department called in all available volunteers to help clear the trees and stand by to assist with any other storm related problems.  Dispatchers at the Erie County 9-1-1 center also reported trees down in Fairview and Girard.  Emergency crews also answered the call for several flooded roadways throughout the region.
