Waste Management Weather Shutdown Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

If you are a Waste Management customer, garbage collection will be pushed back a day through next Monday because of the extreme weather conditions.  Already on Monday, it wasn't a great day to be outside picking up garbage.

Until now, Waste Management has only changed its schedule for holidays. But the super cold temperatures in the forecast has them concerned about the safety of their employees.

The collection schedule for Waste Management customers in Erie and northern Crawford County will be delayed a day, through next Monday.

Waste Management Sr. District Manager, Rich Carniewski said, "We realize it's an inconvenience to our customers, but looking at 30 to 40 mile per hour winds, below zero temps to start the day, I really think the safety of our guys out there on the roads, in and out of the truck, trying to stay warm 8 to 10 hours, it's better for them to stay home and give it a shot on Wednesday."

The City of Erie garbage collection is not affected by this decision. At last word, city customers should put garbage out on their regular day.
