Some good news on the local jobs front. A Minnesota company has bought the former Troyer Farms plant in Waterford.

Minnesota snack food company, KLN Family Brands, bought the company and hopes to start making potato chips, popcorn and other snacks at the Waterford township plant when they open in June.

To do that, they plan to hire 80 to 100 workers soon, and up to 300 if the company's growth projections come to fruition.

Back in 2008, the local company sold to Troyer Farms to Bickel's Snack Foods. Bickels eventually laid off the employees and shut down production, moving their operations to York, PA in 2011.

This new company will operate in Waterford under the name Barrel O'Fun Snack Foods, they also make candy, pet food and other snacks.
They're currently upgrading the Waterford-based plant and even plan to expand it.

This os all coming as very good news for the Waterford and surrounding communities, no word yet on how much the new jobs are going to pay.

Tune in Thursday night on WICU & WSEE for the very latest including community reaction and managers with the new company.
