After an autopsy Friday afternoon, the Erie County Coroner ruled an Erie man died of multiple blunt force trauma, after being hit by a car.
The victim is identified as 51-year-old Emory Black. He had massive injuries all over his body after the accident.
Erie County Coroner Lyle Cook also says the man died while undergoing treatment Friday for his injuries at UPMC Hamot.
He was severely injured in the area of west 15th and Liberty streets around 7:30 Thursday night.
Police and rescue crews found him unconscious on the ground.
A witnesses says the victim was trying to cross the street when he was hit by a car that just kept on going.
"They obviously knew they hit a person. It's another human life. And they just kept going. Didn't even break to see what happened. It's sickening. I mean, this was still just a man, probably trying to get home or going somewhere. It's really upsetting."
Police are asking for the public's help in finding the car that hit the pedestrian.
They say its a sedan, red or maroon in color with damage, likely to the front of the vehicle.
