A lot of activity today at marinas along the Erie bayfront. The first large boats of the season were placed in the water.
At Bay Harbor Marina, the process started 3 weeks later than last year because of the long winter. Now, crews will be working 7 days a week to get all the boats into their slips.
But the weather also made it harder for owners to have their boats ready. A lot of them today were busy lifting off tarps, doing maintenance and cleaning their boats
. Boater Dave Lorah said, "I give myself a couple of weeks to do everything. I basically do it all myself and I am not real fast."
Boater Mark Andrae said, "A boat that is 32 feet, to wax, clean it and do all the engine work it usually takes 2 weeks of being here 4-5 hours a day."
