Safety Was Priority During ATF Raid in East Erie

Posted: Updated:
ATF agents are still not releasing any information on a raid that took place in Erie yesterday.

Agents worked from morning until night removing various items. They removed over 60 guns from the home at 827 East 33rd Street. They also confiscated dozens of boxes of fireworks.

Neighbors living on either side of the home were asked to leave for the first few hours of the investigation. Also, an ambulance stood- by down the street, and a HAZMAT crew was called to remove material that is still unknown to the public.

Harry Latta, a tactical medic with the bomb squad, who was at the scene, says the neighborhood was safe.

"The ATF has their policies and procedures, and safety is number one for those individuals and the surrounding neighbors," he said.

Similar raids were also conducted yesterday in Waterford and Cambridge Springs.  No information is being released on those investigations.
