Approximately 1,235 Windstream customers in West Springfield Township are without land line 911 service today after an aerial cable suffers a fiber cut.
The cut affects those who have Windstream's land line service. Those with cell phones are still able to make 911 calls.
Erie County Public Safety's John Grappy says citizens are encouraged to use cell phones if they have them. Those without cell phones should go to the West Springfield Volunteer Fire Department on 11959 Main St.
There is no official word on how the fiber cut occurred. Repair crews are working to fix it.
Grappy says residents should expect to have land line 911 service again in about three hours.
