A devastating beginning to Erie's Roar on the Shore motorcycle festivities.
Over a hundred thousand motorcycles are in town this weekend, and an accident Thursday night involving a motorcycle, has turned deadly.
66-year old William Stablein Sr., of Erie, was declared dead just before noon Friday, after a car versus motorcycle accident last night on the city's east side.
It happened around 9:30, along east 38th street.
Erie police say Stablein was on his motorcycle, traveling eastbound on 38th st, and the driver of the car, 67-year old Patrick Bucceri, also of Erie, was traveling westbound on 38th.
Bucceri reportedly turned into the path of the motorcycle, as the car turned onto Lake Pleasant road..
Emergency crews rushed Stablein to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries, he was pronounced dead just after noon on Friday.
Bucceri wasn't hurt.
The accident is still under investigation, as far as any potential charges.
