Scattered showers will continue to slide from south to north across parts of the region overnight, and temperatures will fall to 57 degrees in Erie. Patchy low clouds and fog will reduce visibility for some.

Saturday will be another mostly cloudy day with occasional rain showers, and a high of 69 degrees.

We can expect more of the same for Sunday, although highs may drop a couple of degrees to 67.

Big improvements will come, however, early in the new workweek as the stubborn upper-level low pressure system trudges away to the northeast. By Tuesday, we should be bright with a high in the low 70s.

Thursday and Friday rain totals:
* East Springfield: 1.75"
* Clark: 1.60"
* Jackson Center: 1.55"
* Grove City: 1.36"
* Meadville: 1.35"
* Erie: 1.12"

Small Craft Advisories will end overnight along the Pennsylvania and Ohio lakeshore, as winds diminish.

In the Caribbean, Matthew has become the year's most powerful hurricane with maximum sustained winds at an extremely dangerous 150 mph. This is the first Category 4 storm the Atlantic has seen since Joaquin, last year. Matthew is likely to hit Jamaica as a powerful hurricane on Monday, and then cross eastern Cuba and the Bahamas early next week.
